Do you remember Jackie Evancho? No? Well, 2010 Jackie won 2nd place in the fifth season of America’s Got Talent! Aaaaand she sang the national anthem at Donald Trump’s inauguration in 2016 – after numerous well-known stars rejected. In case you forgot, that was the event that was followed by weeks of debate about the number of participants. (BTW: NOT the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration. Period)
Yesterday, there was a new inauguration. President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris were sworn in and no, Jackie was not asked to sing, Lady Gaga was. Oh yes, and J.Lo was there and a few other people whose names you may have heard before, like Justin Timberlake or Bruce Springsteen, but let’s stop the name dropping here. Just so much: The first inauguration during a pandemic was a success, which is certainly also due to the fact that Trump did not participate.
If you listen closely you might be able to hear a collective sigh of relief from all over the world, even if there are no easy days ahead of the new administration. The number of infections is still astronomical and the task now is to clean up the political, economic, ecological and social mess that Trump left behind. Of course we will continue to monitor developments but for now we wish you lots of fun with the best tweets from the inauguration of the 46th President of the United States.

Elections have consequences.
Biden within hours of taking the oath of office was able to: revoke Muslim ban, rejoin Paris Climate Agreement,
extend federal eviction moratorium,
rescind Census orders to exclude non-citizens, preserve/fortify DACA and much more. It’s a new day.
